SILHOUETTE ARTISTS AND SILHOUETTE-MAKERS ALL THE WORLD, UNITE! 

In June 2004 a new department "The Art of Silhouette", temporarily as part of the Moscow museum of folk prints, started its operation.

Congratulations are accepted.

Anton FROLOV (born 1980).
He is web-programmer and web-designer.
Graduated from Geological faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2003.
Currently works at Prime-TASS Agency. Author of over 20 web-sites.
Since 1998 works on the creation, web-design and technical support of this web-site "Russian Silhouette" (siluet.org.ru).
He lives in Moscow.


Larissa RUDENKO (born 1941)

She is head of the department "Silhouette art" and Chief curator of its funds.

Graduated from Bauman MVTU in 1964.

Mrs. Rudenko combines the work on this site with school teaching: she teaches the subject of "Traditions of folk Costume" in the scope of another school subject "Material Technologies".

Director of web-site "Russian silhouette" (siluet.org.ru).

She lives in Moscow.


Andrey DIATCHENKO (born 1956)

He is art historian, journalist and translator.

Andrey is author of the books "Art of East Germany" (in German, written in co-authorship), "Toast for Pushkin" (1999), "Alfons Mucha and Russia" (2000), one of the chapters of collective monograph "Alexander Sokurov"(1994), and over 300 articles on fine art and literature.

He is systematically studies silhouette аrt since 1990, laying special emphasis on the topic "Silhouette in postage stamp design".

Mr Diachenko wrote three articles devoted to style of the British artists Brothers Beggarstaff. He participated in the publication of souvenir postal stationary with silhouette motives, he also put together a systematic collection of stamps and covers with silhouette motives (more than 200 items).

Scientific consultant and author of articles on masters of silhouette аrt intended for the virtual museum of the web-site "Russian Silhouette".

Nadezhda POLUNINA (born 1945)

She is historian, writer, specialist in the field of silhouette аrt and history of private collections.

Mrs.Polunina was born in 1945 in the city of Dudinka (Krasnoyarsk Region). Graduated from the historical faculty of Irkutsk University at 1971.

She is science fellow of the State Historical Museum (Moscow), author of over 100 publications, including the book "The Enticing Shadow: Russian silhouette Art" (Moscow, 1997).

Scientific consultant of the web-site "Russian Silhouette" (siluet.org.ru).

Lives in Moscow.


Alexander FROLOV (born 1948)

He is writer, scientist, museum scientist.

"Since 1965 silhouette was my permanent sphere of interests. It happened once that a series of silhouettes which was shown to me in the office of the editor of the almanac "Monuments of Motherland" became the reason for the creation of a small book "The Enticing Shadow: Russian silhouette Art". It means that the first step was the selection of illustrations and after that a series of essays on silhouettes and silhouette artists were written".

Andrey NECHAEV (born 1951)

He is an artist and designer, works in the technique of silhouette аrt.

Since 1992 Andrey teaches the art of paper plastics (construction and paper modeling) in a Sunday school.

He works at a puppet theater at the Sunday school of church of Saint Nickolai in Khamovniki.

Since 2004 Mr. Nechaev teaches at the studio of paper plastics at the Folk prints museum (Silhouette art department).

Lives in Moscow.
