Drew King
started his interest in art as a student majoring in painting at the Pennsylvania
Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia where he received a four year Fine Arts
Certificate. He continued his education as a student at the California Institute
of Art where he majored in film animation. His student film “The Wind” which
utilized a technique of paper cutouts on a multi-plane received several awards
including a “Student Academy Award” from the American Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences. Drew has a unique style to his cut paper silhouettes. He
uses an unusual application of acrylic and cut paper in his paintings of figures
by water. Using a technique of layering the cut paper he achieves a rich texture
and great depth of field. Drew King lives and works in Cleveland Ohio. He
is presently developing animated greeting cards for the AmericanGreetings.com
